"Jack..." She gulped, before feeling faint again, falling towards him!

She stood there before him, looking extremely worn out, but still pretty and the epitome of what he thought looked 'cool'. He turned fully to her and felt weary. "Yes? Sersh?" Jack asked, before she suddenly went limp and he rushed in and caught her! "Woah, woah, hold on there a minute..!" He panicked, before adjusting her. "Maybe you should lie down and rest, you've been through a lot tonight. Allow me to help." He insisted, half dragging her to the table where he gently laid her onto her back, clearing space to make way. He took her jacket from the back of the chair she had been sitting on and laid it over her chest.

"I'm fine... I'm just... tired." Saoirse commented as she was being laid down on the table to rest. She felt her jacket being pulled over her chest, and turned her lidded green eyes at Jack. "Please, don't leave me here alone..." She closed her eyes. "I...just need to close my eyes for a while..." she sighed, before passing out entirely.

Jack looked into Saoirse's green eyes and nodded. "I'm not going anywhere. You rest up." He promised, taking a step back after she closed her eyes. The weight he had carried both physically and mentally now seemed to 'lift' somewhat as he managed to actually help someone. Time felt slow to him, that every passing hour felt more like three. He knew that creature was still out there, and he wanted to prepare them for it when they ran into it again. Sersh opted to call it 'Fisto' but he wasn't so sure she'd let the name stick if she saw it herself, heaven forbid.

Looked like a goddamn Boogeyman. Jack told himself as he inspected the room for supplies. He rather luckily found a 45 round box of 9mm on the adjacent table beside Saoirse, and upon inspecting the handgun on the floor found it had a full, 15 round magazine. Definitely taking this... He thought, before inspecting the gun itself. It seemed to be customized with its own rail for a laser pointer or flashlight, which Kendo's did carry. He figured it probably be more practical to go tactical, just in case.

He took out his Beretta 92F Centurion and broke it down, as well as the Beretta 92FS he had taken from the floor. Jack swapped the frame, putting all of his internals and even his trigger from his original gun onto the more tactical frame used by the 92FS. Since both guns were essentially the same, with his Centurion having only a slightly shorter and more profile barrel, the weapon should work the same. It took a little time under the lamp light, but he managed to make his upgraded handgun in the end:





That finished, he took out Saoirse's handgun and loaded a fifteen round magazine from the recently acquired weapon and sets it on safety at the foot of the desk opposite of Sersh. As he checked around, Jack found an interesting note, referring to the people they've seen on the schedule board:


CABLE REPAIR REQUEST

To Roger,

That power cable on the ceiling is decaying. If we leave it as it is, those pesky rats will gnaw it in two.

As you know, a powerful generator is used at this University since they use so many high output lab devices. If the cable is cut, someone could get electrocuted.

Please call a repair person and have him fix it. I'll be on business and won't return for a while. The generator is located on the northwest side of the 1st floor hall. Be sure it's done.

He didn't know where this cable was, but he hoped it was fixed before either of them were turned into zombies as he speculated the ones in the halls were Roger and Patrick... well, at least Roger. His eyes turned to the blood on the floor, walls, door, the gun and munition. Something happened before they arrived. Before shit went down fully in Raccoon. "What the hell is going on here...?" He asked himself, sighing as he decided to take stock of his supplies and ammo while he had the downtime.

September 25th 1998
1:45 A.M....

Saoirse had slept off her drugs, but the sense of urgency caused her to stir from her dreamless slumber. "Jack...?" She called out, in a weak, dry voice. She was thirsty, had a massive headache and she ached all over. I feel like I've climbed through a tenderizer... She mentally moaned, groaning physically as she sat up on the table, her pleather purple jacket falling down her toned stomach as she winks her lidded green eyes. She felt sweaty and gross, and scent of salt water and sewage was ripe in the air. She appeared to be in an office, and then remembered the bloody entryway. "Jack?" She called out again, and began looking for the young man in desperation. He didn't leave me, did he? She asked herself, feeling a knot of worry in her chest as she looked about!

Jack didn't rest during the time Saoirse had rested. Instead, he locked and lightly barricaded the door that lead into the hall and had tried to peek into the other door beside a pair of large gas cylinders but it was sealed tight and had a faded red marking that read 'Water Tank' on the door knob. "Guess I'm not getting in there..." He had said to himself, and went along to scavenging what he could within the room. He did debate organizing Saoirse's gear, and his mind was curious what was in that heavy ass vinyl guitar case of hers but he figured it be rude to do so without her permission. He thumbed through the yellowed pages of some of the books on the shelves and checked through the files, but found nothing of real use. He did find a water damaged 1983 issue of Playboy tucked between some maintenance logs and decided it was best to let that continued rotting between the binders.
He checked the lockers, finding an empty box of 9mm ammunition which pissed him off, forcing him to toss it across the room in annoyance. He loaded his magazines and took off his wet vest and hooded jacket to dry where hot air blew down from the ceiling in an attempt to feel a hundred pounds lighter. Lastly, he checked the computer beside Saoirse. He found something about 'P-Base Procedure' and to operate the odd turntable nearby, but didn't know what any of that meant. He did a basic search of the computer's files, thanks to some of his computer knowledge, but it didn't turn up much. I bet TBone110 could get it to sing... I'm not a hacker. He thought. He was referring to his online friend who was a hacker and graphic artist supposedly. Never met him in person, but he had sent him plenty of Joe Kendo's survival guides and knew he lived in Raccoon. He wondered if he was okay out there, but wasn't too worried; however the idea of killing them had he become one of those things out there too and never knowing bothered him. This unsettling thought also made Jack wonder if the 'transformation' between human and zombie was the same in the movies. I hope not, Saoirse said she got bit... but she seems fine, all things considering... He glanced over at her in worry.

She lay there, peaceful almost, her chest rising and falling as she softly snored. He pulled himself away from the chair and walked to her side of the table opposite of the computer. She was beautiful, like he remembered, and gently he reached for her forehead, feeling her smooth skin. She was clammy, which was to be expected, but she didn't seem to have a fever. Usually in the movies, those infected would become really sick, almost like a flu. Still, the possibility this doesn't happen like the movies also persists. Both good, and the bad... only time can tell unfortunately. Jack sighed at these troubling thoughts and peeled himself away from the slumbering woman to make himself somewhat useful. He still had a map of Raccoon, so he had to think of their next course of action. I still have to find Rin and the others, hopefully with the time that's past that monster, the Boogeyman is gone. Hopefully when Sersh wakes up she'll be better and more capable to fend for herself, not that I minded the escorting we'll just work better with two guns as opposed to one. Our priority is to find a way up to the surface, and from there I'll give Sersh the choice of tagging along or not. I have to bring Rin to the police station, or at least find out if she's alive or dead. I can't leave the campus till I do so, Robert is counting on me to find his niece. He reminded himself, and began analyzing the map for routes and backup plans...

Jack was slipping on his jacket and vest when he heard Saoirse call out to him. He turned to face her, and smiled. "Welcome back, sleeping beauty." He said before blushing. I... did not think that one through! He awkwardly coughed before grabbing the half empty water bottle he used while cleaning her wounds earlier and handed it to her. "Eh, well, how'd you feel?" He asked, checking her over. She's got a little more color to her... but still pretty pale. Jack noted.

"Well, someone sounds more confident, or they did before they choked on their w..(cough)" She winced, coughing into her right hand, and flustered. "...words, eh, so am I apparently hehe." She giggled, taking the water from him. "Thanks." She then guzzled part of it with hearty gulps before wiping her mouth with her forearm. "Eh, aside from everything feeling like shit and my head pounding like crazy..." She paused, before giving him a playful salute and wink:



"I'm pretty well!" Saoirse chuckled, and began sliding herself off the desk. "How long was I out? The zombies get killed by the military yet?" She asked, turning to Jack as she slid her bum off the edge of the table. She felt like she slept on a rock, but thems were the breaks.

Jack remained flustered, and when she took the bottle uttered: "Don't worry about it..." The young man looked away from her as he tried to compose himself. He suppressed a yawn as he stared at the blood stained wall while holding his chin as if to ponder it's mystery, but in truth he was trying to simply shake off the awkwardness. He turned to her after she let out a gasp from drinking.

He smiled at her little pose, feeling a little better about her mental health. "Well, at least there's that." He chuckled. However, her next question made his stern expression return. "Not too long, only two and a half hours." He began and placed his hands on his waist bag. "You needed it too. As for the military? I'm sure they've left a couple of zombies for you to shoot yet. But in all honesty, it's been eerily quiet save for some distant explosions around Midnight." He explained, still unsure what caused such. "For all I know, the military could have bombarded the city, that could explain things but I'd doubt if they'd do such a shabby job, given we're both alive yet." He continued. "I've stood guard while you slept, nothing but the sound of rats and rattling pipes. There's a door in the back, but... won't open, needs a key and given how it leads to a Water Tank I think it's best to leave it alone for now." Jack watched her slide off the desk, and then pulled out a bottle of Ibuprofen. "You said you had a headache, this should help." He smiled, tossing her the bottle. He then slid her handgun on the desk towards her. "As promised, here is your weapon. I took the liberty of reloading it for you, you only need to rack the slide and you'll be good to go." He explained.

Saoirse blinked. "Two and a half hours!? Dude, you shoulda woken me up! Aren't I holding ya back??" She gasped, before he tossed the Ibuprofen and explained the rest of the situation. "...You didn't even rest either? Shit man, you've got to be as exhausted as me!" She scolded him, taking a step forwards. "Seriously dude, next time we come to a stop, you're getting some rest! I won't have it, especially after all the heavy lifting you had to do while I was in 'Lala Land'!" the red head argued, giving him lidded, stern eyes! "...and thanks, by the way. For everything." She said softer, looking away, albeit flustered. "Seriously, you saved my ass and then some. I owe you... right! That's right!" she shouted suddenly, her light green eyes alight like shining emeralds as she turned to face him! "I promised you a surprise, didn't I?" She giggled.

"Close your eyes!" She hummed playfully.

F-F-F-first time?! N-no! She-she's not serious! I'm imagining this! this can't...! Jack screamed internally, doing his best not to open his eyes, sweating bullets all the while!!

Saoirse giggled. She almost felt bad~

Jack would hear her stepping closer as he leaned his head forwards, just as he would feel two, cold surfaces squishing either side of his face, scrunching his cheeks together with the objects. "My Hero~" the red head cooed, chuckling as she rubbed his face with the two boxes of .223 Rem rifle rounds she had picked up from Sam's Sporting Goods!



The full, 50 round boxes of ammunition rattled as she teased Jack's face, forcing him to open his eyes as he stared into her big, emerald eyes. She winked back at him. "That is also for teasing me with the cigarette and pulling that metal fragment out! We're even now!" She playfully replied.

The full, 50 round boxes of ammunition rattled as she teased Jack's face, forcing him to open his eyes as he stared into her big, emerald eyes. She winked back at him. "That is also for teasing me with the cigarette and pulling that metal fragment out! We're even now!" She playfully replied.

Jack's world crumbled somewhat as his eyes opened to the smiling, mischievous imp before him! His eyes became lidded, and he wore a neutral expression as his face burned with the color of scarlet. ...and again, God shits in my cereal. He blinked at her and slowly took the boxes of ammunition before turning slightly away and pulled up his hood over his head, down past his face. "...Thanks. I... I appreciate it. Just... gonna die of embarrassment, don't mind me..." he managed, face burning up under the hood! I... told myself, yet... my body and overthinking mind betrayed me. God... I'm a loser. Jack beats himself up for falling into such an obvious trap. "Ya gotta be careful of the Shiela's you don't see son! Momma bears like to strike from your blindspot-"-Not helping dad... not helping. He interrupts the brief memory of hunting with his father that felt...relevant to the situation? Sort of? Dad would be laughing behind me if he was still alive, telling me 'she got me good', God I miss that bastard...

Jack kept quiet and checked over the boxes of ammo, not even seeing them till now. "Huh... I can use these in my rifle." He chimed, still not looking her direction as to not embarrass himself further. "Thanks..." he coughed, stowing them away in his waist pack for now. 100 rounds of .223 was a boon, given he was low on supplies as is. "Wait, where'd you get this?" Saoirse couldn't help but laugh how cute Jack looked blushing this way! Heh, I wonder if he'd had melted had I kissed him on the cheek as I originally intended. Guy would be Jack Soup I'd wager! She thought, blushing at the prospect of kissing John Cavanaugh at all. There was a time, she was quite fond of the young man. Curious about him, and she could see he always wanted to approach her. He wasn't creepy, just shy, which was alright with her. However, there was a point she thought he was going to ask her out to the Senior Prom, but he ended up stopping mid sentence and then changed the subject. Poor guy. She thought, sighing. She would have said yes.

The giggling redhead shook her head as he looked away from her, all bashful like. "Hahahey, don't be like that! Jus messin' with ya dude~" She chuckled, reaching over his shoulder and pulled him close shaking him vigorously! He was like a stiff board flopping against the wind the way she shook him! "I couldn't help myself, you left yourself open, but seriously! Take these and make use of them!" Sersh smiled, tugging his hood off as he turned to face her, giving him her big green eyes and white smile. "Oh? Those? I got'em at Sam's Sporting goods! Like I said... I think? Still fuzzy when you were operating on me doc! Well, much of the ammo was locked down, but I scored a lot of 9mm, buckshot, some blue shells from Kendo, a shotgun-" sliding away from him and grabbing her guitar bag, revealing the bolt-action oddity:



"I've fired Mossbergs and dad's Remington, as well as plinker .22s, but never seen a bolt-action shotgun before! And look at this thing! Its like, so new!" She chuckled, finally glad to hold the fucker stuck in the bag. She then thought she saw Jack's face go pale. "Huh? You okay dude?" She asked, blinking her pretty green eyes.

"What the hell is your bag made of...? Titanium fiber? And your back! How'd you carry all that weight?! I mean, I was wondering what the hell was in your bag! How the hell did you lug the entire field and stream section throughout town?!" He gasped, just amazed at Saoirse's strength and capability... hell at his own! He carried her PLUS all that!!

Jack was silent as he simply blinked at Saoirse's... rather forward reaction. ...If I wake up now, I'm screaming into my pillow. He thought. He blinked and... looked down at the small arms factory which was Saoirse's bag of wonders. "Right... so how much ammo did you actually end up scoring?" He asked, changing the subject, face red as he tried not to stare at Saoirse and her provocative teasing. How could she have been more mellow 'high'? I mean, yeah I get it, but... damn, the drugs did little to impede that bundle of energy within this orange haired woman! Should I be more worried?? He asked himself, feeling sweat rolling down his neck, grabbing his munitions from his waist bag to set on the table.

"Oooo, we divvying up the loot?" The red head smiled at Jack's reaction, and let her sweater stretchers drop with a hearty bounce before dragging the bag over to the table, lifting it up and slapped it on the surface. "Well... I've got about sixty-nine shot shells, about ten of those big blue shells, lets see... if these are all fifteen rounds each," she paused, sliding the Beretta mags out, and then produced the two boxes of White Wolf 9x19mm ammunition. "...one hundred and thirteen nine mills? Haha, I said it like in the movies~ " She closed her eyes, smiling in a cheery manner. "I've also got..." she pulled the flare gun from her bag and three red shells. "Four shells, one's loaded in the flare gun itself. Not sure if its safe, but... I'm not a crispy critter so there's that!" She beamed again.

He blinked at the blue shells she dropped on the table, and he slowly drew out his own things. "A flare gun? Well, anyway that's quite the haul..." he replied, eyes snapping to her swaying, hanging breasts and blushed, closing his eyes. "...well, thanks to you, I've got at least one hundred and forty-two cartridges for my rifle, as for my 9mm, I was running low but I've got... about sixty four bullets, and nineteen .44 Magnum I only recently acquired." He explained, before looking up. "I've also got a smoke grenade. Don't ask, just do." He said, trying to be funny, before glancing back down at the table. "I mean, we don't have to, but we can split the nine mills, you keep the shotgun and shot shells if your hand is up for it, I'll keep the .223s and the .44s, you keep the flares as well." He presented. "It be...roughly eighty eight 9mm bullets to each of us." He explained. "...you can keep the extra bullet, if you want it." he chuckled.

"Here, that'll be useful for you- I'm good with five." She smiled warmly. "To think... earlier today... I mean, yesterday... things were, heh, well, relatively normal. Now, here we are in the sewer, loading magazines and fighting off monsters and the living dead... talk about one hell of a high school reunion, huh?" She asked, half smirking, before her lidded eyes returned to the munition pile. "You look a lot stronger, feel it too. Back in high school, you were kinda scrawny like a plank, not that's bad or anything. Thinner dudes are hot anyway." She teased, hitting his elbow with hers. "Anyway, I'm glad you found me when you did. Miraculous as it was, I shudder to think what would have happened had anyone else found me, be it that quack Doctor Greg, or a monster or something." Jack smiled at that. "Heh, it can be our 'lucky' bullet." He joked. "You can hold onto it though, I don't want to end up shooting our 'potential luck' by accident after all." He replied half seriously, as he'd rather Saoirse be loaded to the gills in case they get separated like he had with Yoko and the others. She slid him the spare mag, which he graciously accepted as well. "Thanks, I'll make use of it." Jack then began packing away the extra loose bullets into their boxes. "Its not every day we have to fight zombies and monsters straight out of the realm of fiction, that's for sure." He answered, before chuckling, his dark blue eyes glancing back up to her beautiful smirk. "Yeah, I'm just bummed there's no booze."

Saoirse stared down at the munition pile, and began to speak more... personally.

To this Jack blushed again, and looked down at the collective pile of firepower. "R-right... thanks." he said, before feeling her elbow. He didn't really know what to make of this, was she into him? If she was, he couldn't be too sure given how she teased him before. Either way, there's no time for such thoughts. We need to get out of here and back to the others if they're still okay up above. He thought, making the moment a long silent one between them, before he looked up at her. "Sersh... what happened when you ran into this Doctor Greg? What other monsters have you encountered, other than the zombies? You mentioned 'frog fucks' before as well." He asked, now that they had the time to collect themselves.
