Narrative Information

This category is where forums relating to future events that tie into the events of Resident Evil Code Veronica X. The events kick off shortly before or during the Rockfort Island raid by the mysterious organization 'HCF', during which time character's such as Claire Redfield, Steve Burnside among a few are trying to survive. Interactions with said characters may be limited- as Claire nor Chris seem to interact with anyone during their stay (as far as we know ).




The events of the Rockfort Island scenario take place three months after the events of Raccoon City, and one month after Sheena Island, and takes place in the iconic locations seen in Resident Evil Code Veronica X such as the Prison, Military Training Facility, the Private Residence to name a few. There were also be other locations, unique to the forum, such as 'Sea Caves', the 'Abandoned Village', the 'North East Compound', and 'Rockfort Wilderness'.

Rockfort Island is situated off the southern coast of South America, on the Southern Pacific side and is somewhere within range of Antarctica for a Harrier or a Cargo Plane to reach. It is small, with noticeable pine trees as well as jungle brush seen throughout the area. As for weather, it appears temperatures can swiftly change from tropical and humid, to stormy, and bitterly cold due to winds blowing from Antarctica.

-Rockfort Island: A Prison, Private Residence, Military Training Facility and built on an Ancient burial ground- whats not to love?
Before its 'purchase' by Umbrella, specifically the Ashford Family, Rockfort Island was home to South Americans with indigenous and Spanish ties, being a former colony of Spain's during the era of exploration. Rodrigo Juan Raval, the leader of Umbrella Security Service 3rd Squad and head of security to Umbrella Paris Laboratory was born on Rockfort before its occupation. The island was taken over by the Umbrella Corporation in the 1990s to accommodate its growing paramilitary and included a concentration camp for enemies and traitors to the company. There are tombs throughout the island built into caves and caverns, where the remains of the original inhabitants from generations past were interred.  

In depth version:
Little is known of the island prior to Umbrella's arrival. What is known is that it was settled by an Hispanic community for several generations. At some point the island became the property of the Ashford family, who served as its governors, owning a mansion on the island.  It is not known how frequently they visited the island, and if day-to-day affairs were handled by a secretary if not. When Alfred Ashford, 7th Earl Ashford, was appointed by Umbrella HQ to oversee the running of Umbrella facilities on the island in 1993, the locals were driven off the island, or otherwise employed. A training camp for Umbrella's paramilitary was constructed on the island and opened in 1994 to accommodate the Umbrella Security Service, and thus two training facilities were in circulation (one in UK- Sheena Island, and one in South America). T-Virus B.O.W.s were also produced within this camp as a source of practical combat training. Along with the military base, Ashford also oversaw the construction of a concentration camp for the internment of spies and company traitors.

Conditions in this camp were extreme, and over the next four years many prisoners were executed by guillotine or used as experiments, with some victims of this extreme brutality being loyal Umbrella employees who asked too many questions. Growing mad with power, Ashford neglected to repair the decaying infrastructure constructed by the Hispanic settlers, and instead used prison laborer's to construct a bridge crossing the valley between his two mansions, executing them upon completion out of disgust of the idea they may see his sister, Alexia, whom he imagined to live there.

-Employees


-LEADER. The aforementioned 7th Earl Ashford, Alfred Ashford is the 'esteemed' Executive Officer and Overseer of Rockfort Island. He is in charge of every facility, being the 'Warden' of the Prison, CEO of the Umbrella Staff stationed there, and X.O. of the Military Training Facility. Arrogant, facetious, narcissistic, cruel and sadistic. He takes pleasure in personally overseeing the 'punishment' of prisoners, and also takes delight in being the President of what he affectionately calls the 'Rockfort Island Rifle Club'.


-USS Trainees. The Military Training Facility trains military personnel that were hand selected by Umbrella recruiters who have above average combat experience or are extremely skilled, regardless of mental stability- but generally weed out the weak of mind within the first three days of training. UBCS are sometimes sent here to train, but Sergei despises Ashford as much as Goldman of Sheena Island, and such are not seen often here. Those trained here at the facility are expected to become new members of Umbrella's Security Service- their most elite military unit. Graduates in the 'Top ten' of a single year are rewarded a Combat Knife made of Umbrella Steel; a blade which will not break, get rusty, need sharpening, can cut through BOW hide and bone and cannot be traced by metal detectors. A lesser quality but more 'bank saving' metal known as TG-01 is in development to replace the Umbrella Steel knives by 1999...

Those who don't graduate or make the 'cut' are generally recycled into the UBCS or lesser security roles within Umbrella Facilities and Laboratories.



-Prison Guard Staff. Prison guards on the island wear rather outdated, 1950's esque prison guard attire common in America during the period. However, their sam browne belts and holsters are equipped with AK-47s and De-Modified Beretta M93Rs that lack their burst function (on their own) with Beretta M9 magazines. They are typically cruel and are encouraged to be such to the prisoners on the island. The worst of these bunch, seven guards in particular, are members of what is called the 'Rockfort Island Rifle Club'. Two of their members, Captain Mathias Rykas and the recently demoted Raymond Taylor are two of the club's top most members. The purpose of the club is merely entertainment, to flex the seven snipers within their skills to one another and Lord Ashford. Their targets? Randomly selected prisoners. A standard 'match' involves a member of the club drawing a flash card with a body part on it- and they are timed to see how quickly they can shoot said part. They are not allowed to 'directly kill' prisoners without Ashford's approval, but some 'accidents' occur. In either case, most of these 'targets' rarely return from the match alive...



-Prisoners. Prisoners were everyone from people Umbrella found troublesome, like corporate spies and traitors to people within their own organization who were simply 'too much' to handle. Those who also chose to stand and fight against Umbrella and had been captured were also sent here. Prisoners typically wore green simple clothes- a pair of stretch slacks and a button down, with some also receiving a blue short sleeved over shirt with their prison number on the back. They also wore a dog collar with a digital readout of their number in the front, which acted as a tracking device to monitor the troublesome quarry. Often times, uniforms became tattered and simply were not replaced. Prisoners who died were simply stripped and tossed into a mass shallow grave outside the Transfer Cells- and that's being generous. Most were simply tossed into the ocean or fed to B.O.W.s used for USS training.


-Umbrella Scientists. As one would expect with Umbrella, their menagerie of scientists linger even on an island meant mainly for training USS personnel and to hold corporate enemies. The scientists working at Rockfort were mainly their to supervise and study the B.O.W.s used for training purposes, and most of its staff were French or worked at the Paris Laboratory. There are also, unknown to most, two Nemesis Tyrants being studied on the island as well as number of other Tyrant class monsters such as the experimental 'Bandersnatch' which is a supposed product of testing the Nemesis parasite in a different method. As is customary with Umbrella staff, most are likely half crazy and resentful people, while the rare few are more 'humane' than others...
