The lament of the living, and a tribute to the dead.
The survivors of the Raccoon City Disaster gathered on the shores of the sea. They could not return to Illinois after the Raccoon Incident, to avoid the Umbrella Hit Squads. So they drove the modified tractor trailer they commandeered from the Umbrella MOC, a final gift for them from a man who they had no body to bury.
They drove for a few days to the Hudson Bay area. Successfully outdistancing the Umbrella Hunting Party. They were free. But not without paying the highest price. The entire ride was sombre, and mostly quiet. After all the horrors they saw and experienced in the doomed, cursed city, there was not much more they could say. They all lost so much, and so many of them made the ultimate sacrifice.
The bodies of the fallen, Those they could save, rested within several body bags, laid inside the cold storage room of the truck. Jack Taylor, and his sister Carrie, their sadness clear, drove the truck in near silence. Even Jack's usual exuberance, and swagger was muted and dulled. His brother Raymond had betrayed their family. Robert was dead, cold, in the trailer with so many others. The sad, crushed emotions were dulled only by the fact that his Sister was safe with him. Ed saved her yet again. He saved them all technically, when he held back the thermobaric explosions from the missiles, but Ed specifically saved Carrie a few times in those last hours. Ferral had gone full maniac on them, and tried to detonate their control chips to silence them. If it wasn't for Jack and Ed finding a way to deactivate and extract the chips, they would all be lost.
The remnants of the Raccoon PD, let by Damian in the unfortunate demise of his superiors, mourned their lost comrades in their own way. So many of them were lost with Raccoon's decay and subsequent destructiuon, and only a few of the bodies could be taken with them.
And the civilians, some held eachother. Some chose to remain silent, others cried their sorrows quietly. Most were lucky to have survived with just the clothes on their backs.
One, a tall young woman, with shocking blue hair, stood vigil over a pair of bodies in the cold room, sealed inside their black body bags. They were a pair of umbrella scientists, but thy were among the very few within Raccoon who tried to do the right thing. Saorise, the ginger woman who was normally full of whitty banter and a sharp tongue stood beside her. Her own green eyes wet with barely held tears, focused on one of the pair the blue haired woman was guarding. Her mother, Dr.Hinomoto was one of the two scientists who worked on Skye. The other was Dr.Kamura, Samantha's older sibling, and the lead scientist. Both were Skye's keepers, and her friends. But Hinomoto was Saorise's mother. Sky fought hard to protect the pup of her late friend. it was all she could do, even with all the extraordinary powers the two doctors had bestowed her with, the shark lady considered herself a failure for not being able to protect them as well. Rage, sadness, fear and doubt all chased themselves in circles in her mind and heart.
But, having been a shark most of her life, and having experienced human perspective only in the last few days, Skye was not used to these feelings. And she did not like them at all. It was a twisted feeling in her chest she could not shake off. And her eyes kept leaking... And leaking. And her breath kept getting caught up and choked in her neck. She could not explain why. Nobody here was in any right state of mind to help her. So she kept it silent. She wished the big guy was still here... He was able to hold things together better than most. He might have known. But he went back into the city... to save them all and buy them time, he had said.
"It should have been me..." she whispered to herself. "I was the one they wanted. I was the monster... And maybe Hina and Kami would still be here... and I would be there..."
Damien heard her whisper though, and he looked over to her. "No... You made a choice, the right choice. You saved those who were innocent. And you protected her daughter. Ed was like you, and he made a choice too... He did what he did because he believed it was right. All we can do as the survivors, is honor the fallen as best we can, and live for those who couldn't."
(OOC: More to come, but if anyone wants to add things, please do I had to get some things written down.)
