Background & Other Details:

Colloquially called 'the Elephant gun' or an 'Elephant Rifle', or 'Stopping Rifle', this large weapon uses an equally large cartridge with the a bullet head the length of a fully cased .45 ACP cartridge. Developed for the rich to hunt in places like Africa and India, where the wildlife are far more dangerous and have thicker flesh than typical deciduous wildlife it is a weapon designed to stop a charging animal with a single shot, with a secondary shot also available should the user miss or actually require a second attempt. The weapon can be rather unwieldly, but is also immensely powerful. The bullets for the weapon can cost in excess of $100 a round as well. Those who actually own these weapons are likely showing off their material wealth, as such a proprietary weapon built around a single, specific and viable use is unlikely to be seen in most homes Stateside let alone in the Caribbean, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

In Raccoon City, MacLead's do supply the expensive shell, a .700 Nitro Express straight walled rimmed cartridge and also have an Elephant Gun on display, mostly for show and to draw in customers. There was also mention of someone crazy enough to order a five round, revolver pistol chambered in .700 Nitro dubbed 'Mjlonir' at Kendo's, but there has been no confirmation yet of such an unwieldly weapon...

As expected, if it was meant to 'take out an Elephant', most large B.O.W.s likely do not stand a chance against something like this H&H rifle either.
