Background & Other Details:

The Heckler & Koch SL8 rifle was the company's attempt at selling a commercial 'sportsman' rifle based on the military G36 design in 1998. They removed the 'offending' assault rifle type features to enable them to sell within Europe and the United States.

It is the sniper rifle of choice by the unknown organization (V-SAC) infiltrating Raccoon City given its interchangeability with the G36 which is equipped by a number of their operatives. Given how Kendo customized their G36s, Kendo's may have one or two of these laying around as well.
