Backtrail to the City
A mostly unkempt dirt road leading into the city from the surrounding Arklay woodlands...

She giggled, as his lips landed upon her neck. "Oh, Halloween may be coming early this year hon~" She purred, blushing. She almost debated stopping the vehicle and making out with her boyfriend, perhaps a little car sex- the spooky atmosphere in the background wasn't even a forethought, but...they just didn't have the time to spare. She bit her lower lip, blushing pink as the vehicle continued to roll on down the hill.

“Oh, I’m looking forward to some sweets of a sort....” Khristian said in a low voice. He then looked back outside. “Huh, kinda low traffic today....”

Re: Backtrail to the City
She purred at his seductive tone, but it was short lived by his confusion. She looked around. "Huh... thats saying something, this road hardly has traffic as is..." she then rolled down the window and slowed the vehicle. She felt a little chill go down her spine. "You hear that?" She asked...
Silence.
They were in the middle of the Goddamn woods, where every bird chirp, woodpecker peck, animal rustling in the brush could be heard over the lyrics of ACDC's 'T.N.T.' on full blast, but there was nothing! She felt a little creeped out, and started down the dirt path again. There was a short hill they had to climb with the 4x4 when she saw the lights; the red and blues in the distance and high beams blaring in their faces! "Ack, fuck...!" she cursed, bringing up her arm. Those search beams they had equipped on the Crown Ford Victoria's at the station were enough to blind a person!
She kept rolling forward, blocking the light with one hand with the other on the wheel. "What the hell?" She questioned, rolling closer to the squad car, before coming to a stop. "Hey!" she called out, unable to see the windshield or driverside of the vehicle thanks to the search light. "HEY! Anyone in there?" She called out again. Oddly the search light was pointed towards where they had rolled to a stop, and faced the woodlands. She began to wonder if one of her fellow officers were chasing a perp through the fog, or that they were searching for another one of the season's missing hikers. "Hello? Its Sam... anyone out there?" She asked, before putting the vehicle into park. "Gahd dammit." she spat, undoing her belt, and exiting the jeep. It could be possible the officer wasn't in the vehicle, that they had ran off on foot, but she had to make sure. In worst case scenario she could always try the radio again, it should have cleared up now they were a little further away from the mountains. "Be right back..." Sam said in an annoyed tone to Khristian. "Its gonna be one of those days..." She sighed, closing the door.
Silence.

“Ok.” Khristian replies, but for some reason, he was rather nervous. A squad car abandoned in the middle of the road? Sounds like an ambush He reaches into the back and pulls out the shotgun and some shells, undid his seatbelt, and loaded two shells into the shotgun. Hand resting on the door handle, ready to spring to provide Sam covering fire.

Sam approached the squad car's driver side, blocking the powerful beam of light with one gloved left hand. I've always hated these lights. Driving home late from University, then you see this light shining in your rear view mirror, next moment you're pulled over and you're degraded with an 'Asian Driver joke' etc etc, then given a ticket because you don't have a licence plate light... She internally moaned, thinking of the things she did in her youth. She did her best to bury the past, but kept the cobra tattoo on her lower abdomen that curled around her thigh, since Khristian seemed to enjoy it. Looking back, she saw him pull out the shotgun from the rear seat of the Jeep, which put her at ease a little. Given the eerie atmosphere, she couldn't entirely blame him or herself for being a little spooked. She looked back and approached the driver's side of the vehicle, hearing something crunch beneath her boot as she got closer. She looked down, lifting her foot. "Glass?" She glanced back to the driver side window and approached fully now, to investigate...

Upon her approach, Samantha would see that the source of the glass was from the driver's side window. It had been smashed in by something heavy, and what ever had smashed it got stuck, ejecting glass out to the road when whatever did this pulled the item out. To her horror, there was a corpse wearing an officer's bloody garb sitting in the driver's seat. Blood had stained the light blue top of his winter uniform, and most of the interior of the vehicle- windshield, dashboard, steering wheel, the seats- all drenched and saturated in a thick layer of blood that was beginning to thicken. The source was from the officer's neck, which had been severed clean through to the head rest of the seat where the leather was torn and frayed by a wide cutting edge, possibly from an axe. The officer's head was missing, and his hands were white knuckle gripped to the steering wheel. On his chest was a name: C. Clarke. It was one of her coworkers, 28 year old Cameron Clarke, but most called him Cam in the office. His head was no where to be seen within the cabin of the vehicle, his standard issue handgun was still in its holster, and on the weapon rack on the passenger side was a Benelli M3S Shotgun still locked safely away, but it appears that Cam had been in the process of unlocking it.
The CB Radio was issuing static, covered in blood as well. Cameron had met a very grisly end...

The CB Radio was issuing static, covered in blood as well. Cameron had met a very grisly end...
Samantha suppressed a gasp, her eyes wide with a look of grim horror on her face. "Jesus..." she whispered, covering her mouth with her left hand. She looked around first, swiftly unlatching the support strap over her hip holstered Browning. Her eyes scanned the edges of the trail, but there was nothing but thick mist, even where the search light was beaming. She glanced back into the cabin, checking the tag. "Oh God... Cam...!" She bit her lip, her heart sinking into her gut. He was a good guy, and to see him without a head on his shoulders... What the fuck happened?!
She noticed that the wound was very clean upon closer inspection. It looked like a wide cutting edge lobbed off Cameron's head, something like an axe... but the force to break the window and cut clean through the neck and headrest... that needed a helluva lot of force! She couldn't see Cam's head anywhere... so she assumed it was either at his feet or... someone or something took it! She went for her radio again. "Officer Kamura to Dispatch...." She spoke, but only static. "Officer Kamura to Dispatch, can you hear me? Over." She spoke again, her voice agitated. Still nothing. She curled her lips and tried again. "Goddamn it, this is Officer Kamura I have an officer down, requesting backup at Route 3, Arklay. Can someone fucking copy?!" she screamed, now highly frustrated. When no answer came, she began to feel a tingle of fear run down her spine. She opened the door to Cam's Ford Victoria, since she had gloves on. Blood was everywhere, his Beretta M92FS was still in his holster, but she noticed he tried to unlock the shotgun affixed on the dash at some point. She grimaced, reaching hesitantly over him for the handset, taking it in hand and repeated the process. "Can anyone hear me? This is Sargent Samantha Kamura of the RPD. I have an officer down, requesting immediate backup...is anyone listening?!" She screamed, her nerves wracking as she stared at Cameron's gaping neck. What the hell is going on?! Why is no one answering, why is Cameron out here, and why... why for the love of FUCK is his head missing?! More importantly who killed him?! She mentally shrieked, her body sweating bullets, her heart racing on edge as the car's handset only produced static, like her personal radio.
She checked the police ban, adjusted the frequencies... and her hairs stood on end. Nothing but static or silence. It was improbable, no... fucking. Impossible. There was always something going on, the scanner picked up everything in the city, but there was nothing but dead air. "What...the fuck is going on...?" She breathed, gulping uneasily. She tried to imagine Cameron's last moments... but she didn't want to linger much longer. This was a crime scene, but something... something was happening in the city. There was no way her radio could have been tampered with, this wasn't some technical error. Something wicked and strange was afoot!

Blood...That heavy iron scent wafting through the air..It was something that was unique, something that could not be mistaken for a different scent, and something that could easily bring about something dangerous and frightening....Unknown to Samantha, there was such a thing coming. The large mutant bear lumbering around the forest easily picked up the scent and even though he was about a mile or more away, his supernatural scent abilities easily picked it up in the wind while his ears picked up the screaming frightened voice of Samantha yelling into her radio...
Grunting, the bear turned his head, large black eyes looking towards the direction of the horrific scene as he sniffed, his nostrils growing as he took in that heavy iron scent...Letting out a loud roar, something that would travel across the wind and be ever so faint by the time the sound was brought near the scene Samantha was at, the bear began to run towards the scene his system overwhelmed with a blood frenzy that was blinding his mind and ambitions, the only thing he was focused on now was finding the source of the smell and tearing said thing apart and anything, or anyone, that might be near the source as well....
For now, there would be no signs of the bear coming besides that faint roar, but it would only be a matter of time before he would be arriving on scene...

“Sam!?” Khristian cried out, when she screamed her co-worker’s name. He pulled the keys from the ignition (not sure if you stopped the car or not, unbuckled, and exited the Jeep, shotgun lowered, walking over to the police car. “Sam, are you ok!?”

Re: Backtrail to the City
Sam turned around quickly, her weapon raised towards Khristian for a moment, before she gasped, and let out a tremendous sigh of relief. "Jesus, Khristian..." she says excitedly. "Its Cameron, he's dead!" She explained, side stepping to reveal the decapitated officer! "The radios, both mine and his- the damn car's radios are on the fritz!" She explained, grabbing Khristian's shoulder. "We need to get to the police station, now!" She explained, noting the shotgun in his hands. She blinked, turning to Cam and the shotgun in the vehicle. She checked Cam's holster, and pulled out the M92FS handgun from his holster, before presenting it to Khristian with a few mags from the side pouches. "Here, take these, I don't know whats going on... we may need them. Even so, can't leave weapons out here for a random civilian to stumble upon..." She says, before walking around to the other side of the vehicle, opening the door to the passenger side and turned the key on the lock of the weapon rack.
Thats when she heard it. A low, rumbling growl. It seemed distant, but not distant enough. "Khris, get the car started, quickly!" Sam pleaded, holstering her HiPower, and removed the stockless, pistol gripped Benelli M3S from the rack, kicking open the glove box and began to hastily load the weapon shell by shell! It was a 12 gauge weapon like Khristian's silverhawk, but had a six shell capacity but not as good range compared to the prior hunting shotgun. She pumped the shell into the chamber and leaps out the vehicle, running back to the jeep. Her body was trembling, feeling a powerful dread washing over her! We need to get going, we need to get back to the city! She mentally screamed, her terrified brown eyes scanning the edge of the forest as she made her way back to the jeep, shotgun raised and sweeping for any sign of movement, providing her boyfriend some cover!

“Right!” He replied, taking the pistol and trying not to look at the mutilated corpse, he got into the passenger’s side, putting the key back in the ignition and starting the engine. He rested the barrel of the shotgun on his shoulder, and held the pistol in his left hand, surveying his side of the car for any sort of predators.

Re: Backtrail to the City
Khristian wrote:“Right!” He replied, taking the pistol and trying not to look at the mutilated corpse, he got into the passenger’s side, putting the key back in the ignition and starting the engine. He rested the barrel of the shotgun on his shoulder, and held the pistol in his left hand, surveying his side of the car for any sort of predators.
With Khristian back into his seat, the officer backed up to the driver side, sweeping the M3's barrel from left to right. She could hear heavy foot falls, the crunching of undergrowth! She jumped a little backing up into the car, turning to the handle she hastily opened it, sliding into her seat and slammed the door. She set the M3S in the back of the jeep, caring not for her seat belt as she put her foot to the gas--
The wheels kicked up dirt behind the vehicle, and every horror movie cliche ran through Sam's head frantically when she realized she was still in park! "Doh!" She spat, playing with the stick, pulling the 4x4 back into 'drive'. For a moment the jeep remained in place, kicking up dirt again, before the vehicle lurched forwards and began speeding down the dirt road!
She was sweating, panting heavily as she tries to put it all together in her head. "What the hell is going on?! The radio's are out, a cop's dead, and now- now..." She panted, wiping her brow with her forearm. She needed to calm down, she had to get through this.

As the cop car faded from sight, Khristian lowered the pistol away from the window, seeing no threats, but kept it readied. “You think this might be some sort of terrorist or military attack? The radios dead, Cameron, the lack of traffic?” He asked to his girlfriend, as the Jeep flew through the trees.

"I-I don't know. What happened to Cam was like those hikers a few months back, it looked like it was from an axe wound..." She panted, wiping her brow. She thought of that movie where the Russian's invaded the US for a moment, couldn't think of the name of the title, her head spinning, but she was sure no one had their head cut off in the film! "We need to get to the station, speak to the Chief, the Lieutenant, Captain Cahill... someone about what's going on." She repeated, trying to calm down.

“I swear, if that chief of yours actually proves useful, I’ll be shocked!” He retorted, trying to ease the tension a little by mocking the chief’s presented incompetence. He looks up, seeing the main road. “Ok, almost clear of the woods.”

Suddenly, there would be a flash of brown and a large rustling of trees....From the corner of both Khristian and Sam's eyes, they could see something...big was coming and was catching up! Suddenly, that large thing would careen on the road trying to ram into the jeep as both occupants of the jeep would be met with the terrifying sight of the massive bear roaring and rearing his ugly head as he attempted to smack into the jeep and send it careening into the trees.

She half chuckled when she notices movement in the trees again, before the sight of the massive... impossibly massive bear keeping up with the side of their jeep! "What the fuck?!" She screamed, swerving to avoid it, but it seemed like it was trying to force them off the road! It was then she realized she didn't have her seat belt on, with her rising fear she didn't slip it on! It would have been too awkward for Khristian to pull it over her frantically moving arms in this frantic escape! "Oh fuck me!! What the hell is that thing?!" She screams, turning the wheel to try and avoid its massive claws, hearing it tear through the metallic chassis of the jeep as she tried to swerve the vehicle away! She couldn't help but stare at the sight of the bear's large, cataract eye and massive dripping teeth! She was pushing nearly 55 at this point, dangerous speeds for this road, but she wanted to get away from the monster as quickly as she could!

“Motherfucker!” Khristian put the pistol away and readied the shotgun. “Roll down the windows, need to get a clear shot!” He said, leaning back the seat, turning around on his chest, ready to shoot the massve bear. “How’s the fuck does something that big exist!? And how’s it so damn fast!?l

Re: Backtrail to the City
The bear roars as his claws dig through the back of the jeep, the sound of metal tearing echoing in the forest as the impact causes the car to rise a bit, threatening to send it toppling onto it's side if not careful! The wheels would touch back down safe and sound though as Samantha worked to get away from the bear...
Letting out another roar, the bear would run alongside the car, his one distended eye dripping puss staring straight at the driver as he attempts to ram it once again, this time planning to use the brunt of his force to smack into the side of the car and send it careening into the trees....The question would be though, would Sam be quick enough with her senses? Would Khristian be able to fire off a shot before the impact? Much still remained to be seen but one thing was certain...The bear was targeting the two with no intentions of letting them go!

Re: Backtrail to the City
Sam screamed with wide terrified eyes; the monster bear was keeping up with them at impossible speeds to the point she could see its puss dripping eye staring at her! With Khristian readying the shotgun on one side, and this terrifying beast on the other, Sam had to keep her focus on the road ahead for it wasn't just her own life at risk here! "H-Hold on!" She screamed, her reflexes going into high gear as the creature came in for a powerful ram! She applied her breaks as it came in, its heavy body slamming into the nose of the vehicle, causing the jeep to spin sideways across the dirt path, almost threatening to topple over! She released the break as though they were on black ice, the vehicle idling for a moment as their headlights flashed onto the large brown bear in the woods ahead of them!
Sam half realized the damage, the windshield cracked, the left side of the hood heavily dented, her window smashed! She panted heavily, turning to Khristian then back to the vehicle. She tried the gas, but the car stalled! "Oh fuck, not now!" She screamed, tension in her throat, as she turned the wheel and pressed on the gas, but nothing! The most that she was getting was a slow crawl down the sloped dirt road, the entrance to the city less than a football field away! She tried everything to revive the engine, knowing the bear was still around! "C'mon... c'mon!!!" She screamed, pounding on the dashboard, pushing her foot to the gas as her skin crawls with the rising fear!
The engine whined, groggily trying to 'wake' as the bear had crashed somewhere in the trees to the right side of the jeep. The jeep slowly continuing its crawl down the slope! There was the pump shotgun in the back seat yet, and if it came to it she and Khris would have to shoot their way out! Not a wise decision, but if the jeep didn't move soon, the monster would tear through them!

Khristian turned himself around, and rested the barrels of the shotgun on the door, and taking a breath to steady his aim. He focused on the creature’s deformed skull, and pulled the trigger twice, unloading both barrels at the monstrous bear, broke open the breech, ejected the spent shells, and quickly loaded in two fresh ones in case that wasn’t enough to down the behemoth. (OOC: As long as he can’t cast Meteor like FF Behemoths

With the Jeep stalled for the moment, the bear lets out another massive roar, the noise shaking the car and the inner bones of both Sam and Khristian as the bear began lumbering...fast right at the Jeep...
The shots went off, the sound ringing loudly in the mostly silent forest as the two slugs would smack into the bear's head right on target...There would be a loud *SCHLRKK* noise as the shells hit, Sam and Khristian able to watch large portion of the bear's head, the side of the bear's head splattering open as skin and blood splattered out everywhere as one of the bear's eyes was completely shattered sending blood and bone fragments flying everywhere....
Still, the bear kept coming as he raised with a massive roar as blood splattered on the jeep, the bear slamming down on the hood of the Jeep causing it to dent and bend in while the bear roared his loud massive mouth, jaws hanging down low, right in front of Khristian and Sam!

Two thundering booms came from her right, with a very audible wet sound accompanying it. She continues to turn the key, her foot on the gas, the engine rattling! "C'mon C'MON!!!" She grunts through clenched teeth, when the bear hit the jeep's hood! Samantha shrieked, the bloody mess was still alive, albeit missing most of its face now as it roared at them behind the splattered windshield! Somehow, its massive weight hitting the hood must have did something to set the vehicle off, as the engine hummed to life again! In spite of the large, imposing creature ROARING bloody murder in front of them, she pushed her foot on the gas and began to tear the dirt beneath the jeep's wheels up! The jeep's speedometer was quickly rising past the 50s, into the 60's and now 70's! They weren't too far from the city's entrance now, they didn't have to drive that far! And right now, as the front end grinds against the Bear's belly, it was either going to take the bear with them, tear what little remained of its muscle in fur away and drive through it, or their vehicle would continued to rise in speed till either it let go and likely result with them sling shooting it, or... worse!
"How is that thing still ALIVE?!" Sam screamed, unrelenting with her foot heavy on the gas pedal!

Re: Backtrail to the City
The car pressed against the bear's body, the loud rumbling engine growing loud, tires squealing loudly as it pressed against the bear...Finally, it began to tear through, blood splattering over the windshield and splattering onto both Sam and Khristian as it tore through the bear's stomach beginning to cause steamy wet organs to squish and be pulled out....The bear let out a terrifying roar, when suddenly Khristian unloaded into the bear once more, splattering what was left of his skull while taking out the bear's leg, causing the bear to topple off the jeep and fall to the ground as the last of his brain matter oozed out...It meant both of them were now free from the bear...But now their car was covered in blood, organs, and mess....
