History:

An Umbrella paid mercenary, Maria is a member of the U.B.C.S. (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service), in the U.B.C.S.’s Alpha Squad, Bravo Platoon with a Corporal’s rank. Her family was torn apart in the Nicaraguan Revolution, eventually fighting alongside the revolutionaries as a child soldier in an anti-Communist group known as the Contras or Nicaraguan Resistance, barely ten at the time. She had seen many atrocities in Nicaraguan Revolution, and even committed a few herself. She and many of her fellow revolutionaries were arrested in the early 90s, and it was around that time, many of them were recruited by Umbrella to be used as disposable mercenaries, to be used where the U.S.S. are ineffective.

She finds it ironic that she is working alongside her former enemies, with a mix of former communist and anti-communist soldiers hired by the big, western pharmacuetical company to commit and supress crimes for and against them.

Cpl. Maria Valenciano Rodriguez is a silent, cool-calm-collected young woman who generally keeps to herself, but backs up her comrades in a pinch. She doesn’t hesitate to make a kill, as she has killed more people than most professional soldiers in her short life; but it doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to listen to reason, or to be merciful when she chooses to be. These days, she observes her target briefly, with a slight defensive approach. This is due to her ‘rebirth’ she had prior to her arrest and imprisonment; as Maria was being set on the ‘right path’ by a foreign missionary. She has since took their teaching to heart, wanting to change...even though she knows deep down, that she cannot.
