-Police Detective: The detective wears a light blue buttoned down collar denim shirt with chest pockets and with the sleeves gathered to her elbows. The first few buttons were torn away during an attack prior to reaching the station, and have come undone, showing off some cleavage and the lacy pink bra underneath. This is accompanied with slate grey trousers and black hiking/patrol boots with brown trim. She wears a fanny brown leather hip holster for her Beretta 92FS on said right hip, black leather magazine pouch on her left hip, and her bayonet set above her fanny. Rita display's her RPD detective badge/shield on a leather wallet clipped to the front of her gun belt. Also along her gunbelt there is a loop for a police flashlight, and a pouch for her radio. Underneath, she wears pink lacy panties.

Gloves:

-Detective Riot Gear: Same as the above, but wears black tactical fingerless gloves, a kevlar vest with the 'R.P.D.' sprayed on the front and back and a SWAT Ballistic helmet w/out face shield. Sometimes sans helmet.

Inventory:

Valued possessions: Rita's Kendo Custom Shotgun- A shotgun made by Joe and Robert Kendo of Kendo Arms, Raccoon City. When Rita became a S.T.A.R.S. liaison she was bugged by Joseph Frost and Forest Speyer to get a 'beefier' weapon than her Remington 870. After consulting with Barry Burton and the Kendo brothers, she had the Kendo's make a unique weapon strictly made for her. What they produced, through her tastes and their skills as gunsmiths, was a hybrid of the S.T.A.R.S. Benelli Custom (Benelli M3 Super 90) and the RPD SWAT's Spas 12 shotgun. It has a folding collapsible stock, advanced rifling to increase the spin of slugs, and it replaced the original hand guard with that of a Spas 12's more enlarged, ergonomic rubber grip. The weapon has an extended magazine, allowing up to 8 shells. A bandolier on the side holds an additional 6 shells to carry. The accessory rail on top allows Rita to add a scope or a tactical flashlight if necessary. The weapon can cycle as a pump-action or a semi-auto shotgun, and has a laser pointer set into the shell tube under the barrel of the shotgun.













Rita's S.T.A.R.S. Handgun- A modified M92FS that was used as the prototype for the Kendo Custom 'Samurai Edge' Handgun. The 'Mod 0' variant has many of the Samurai Edge's standard features, but lacks many of the embellishments and a chromed, stainless barrel and internals. Rita further modified hers with wooden checked grips with rubberized inlays around the wooden grip panels and with the R.P.D. S.T.A.R.S. Logo Medallions inlaid within the wood furniture. The weapons is fully blued with polished bronze accessories (trigger, holding pins, grip screws, mag release button, fire selector, slide release and hold open levers, etc.). The slide has rear and forward cocking serrations as well to allow the weapon to be racked more easily and ergonomically as well.

History:



Rita Janson was originally from New York, where she had been enrolled at New York Military Academy at behest of her father. Its there she met Damian Handy, and became friends with him. They continued to be very close friends right up into ROTC graduation, after which she joined the Air Force and lost contact. She became a MP Officer, where she performed mainly base security and sentrywork. She eventually left the Air Force to pursue a proper police career. She moved to Chicago, to be closer with her family who had since moved from New York. Once fully discharged she attended the Chicago Police Academy, and eventually became an Chicago Police Officer, and quickly became a member of one of their SWAT teams due to her Military background.
She remained in the CPD till she found out that Damian had transferred to the Raccoon City Police Department, and transferred herself in ‘97. Due to her background, she became a S.T.A.R.S. liaison since the department lacked a SWAT team, and became fast friends with Joseph Frost, Forest Speyer and Jill Valentine in the process. It was through Joseph and Forest that she got her custom shotgun made at Kendo Gunshop. Due to her superb investigation skills, Captain Enrico Marini prompted her to join the RPD’s Detective Unit which she did.

Prior to the STARS suspension, she and several other detectives in the RPD were trying to solve the mysterious Cannibal Murder cases that occurred in late May of 1998. She worked closely with the STARS during this time. When the STARS were suspended in August, Captain Cahill was brought in from New York to oversee the creation of the RPD’s SWAT team, Damian was promoted to Lieutenant, and she became a liaison to the unit as an additional instructor due to her background.

As a person, Rita is a stoic officer who usually keeps to herself, sometimes imagined as a bit of a ice queen. She is, however, also very informative and friendly in spite of her cold exterior, and is always willing to help a fellow officer in need.

Misc.-
-Apparently ‘Janson’ is of Scandinavian origin. Who woulda thunk it.
-Rita harbours deep feelings of romantic lust towards her younger superior and old friend, Lieutenant Damian Handy. Most cannot tell due to her rather cool, calm and collected demeanor, but those with enough perception can easily see she attempts to flirt with the Lieutenant.
-When drunk, Sgt. Janson often laments her inability to 'get the Lieutenant in bed with her' to those who will listen to her rant and mope; if drinking with Lt. Handy/he was in the vicinity she clams up and becomes super quiet and awkward, and will not leave the bar till after he has left!
-A photographic memory, high analytic and deductive skills, quick thinking and bursting with intellectual potential; it's of no surprise the woman has a high IQ, and can be considered by even the former Captain Wesker of S.T.A.R.S. as a genius.
-She was undefeated in chess within the RPD station, till she faced Rebecca Chambers. She never won a game against her since.
-She turned down a recommendation to join the F.B.I. as well as the United States Secret Service as an Investigator when she learned of Handy's transfer to Raccoon.
-She dislikes the District Attorney/Deputy Mayor, Rufus Devlin Harris Jr. for many reason, among them being she finds him creepy and suspicious given his father's background.
-Like 90% of the R.P.D., she also dislikes Chief Brian Irons, and has found him breathing down her neck one too many times to make her feel comfortable.
-She dated Chris Redfield briefly in '97, to try and get Damian jealous. Redfield dumped her, given all she could talk about was Officer Handy.
-Rumor has it she turned down many people from asking her out, with Captain Albert Wesker, Deputy Mayor Rufus Harris, Chief Irons (as any sane woman should!), and numerous other coworkers within the R.P.D. among those shot down by the S.T.A.R.S. & S.W.A.T. Liaison Officer.
