The sounds of the cold dead windy air swept through the streets. Oddly, the streets were deserted. but with the wind carried strange distant sounds. voices.... it sounded like the moans of the damned, along with the squawks of the crows and ravens that circled the skies above the city... giving off a vibe something was far more wrong on Raccoon than the attitudes of some of the police officers...

Then, a more distinc sound came through the winds, distant popping noises...

That strong, warm wind was suddenly chilly. The clouds above her were dark gray. "Looks like rain..." Her own voice feeling oddly... louder than the street itself. In fact, where...was everyone? She looked around as she closes the iron gates behind her. This street was pretty much Raccoon's Main Street according to the map in her purse, but nothing. Hardly any traffic, not a single pedestrian about. Not only that, the wind had a painful, moaning sound to it. The squawking of the ravens overhead didn't help her any. "Creepy.." she mutters under her breath, huddling in her leather jacket, her DD's squishing together, deepening her cleavage. She walked out into the street, looking for a convenient store, and she couldn't believe that the entire city was at that stupid football game! Raccoon Sharks... well, at least the town tried to be different with their nomenclature. Now, I'm not the biggest sports fan, and I'm not alone in that thought. SOMEBODY has to be around, you're just being paranoid...

She heard the pops, and for a seasoned pistoleer when it came to competitive shooting, she was quite sure it was gun fire. "Shit... what the hell?" She tried to think of a reason for it, then again they were surrounded by a huge forest, and it was hunting season. She wearily accepted the idea, before continuing down the streets, inspecting any of the shops for signs of actual humans to interact with...

As Kiko walked down the streets, she would notice many of the storefronts had their shutters down, while others simply had their closed signs on display. However, this did not explain the complete desertion of the streets. Not a single pedestrian walking or car being driven was in sight...

In fact, it looked like there had been several accidents along the road, as the cars were haphazardly parked all over the street in all kinds of illegal fashions.

That was until the strange moaning sounds grew louder as Kiko walked down the streets, it was becoming more and more apparent something terrible had happened...

"Okay... seriously, no one... no one likes football, that much!" She says, her voice echoing... echoing in a city? Weird. Even her footfalls, her heeled boots clicking upon the sidewalk seemed louder than most of what was going on. Then there were the cars. She noted a few vehicles were parked in odd ways, some of the cars were idling, but with no passengers. A chill rand down her spine at this, and she felt safer reaching between her soft breasts for the switchblade she hid from the police before being stripped of her weapons. It was warm with her body heat upon her bare fingers, and it made her feel a little safer as she ventured further, looking for a shop, or something.

A weird, sweet... almost rotting scent hit her nose all of a sudden. It smelled almost like road kill. "Ugh, someone ran over Flower I think...then threw up on him." She shuttered, gagging. She didn't know if it was the right idea to continue forward... but at this rate, curiosity was rearing its unavoidable head...

She pressed on.

It would be only a few more moments before Kiko spotted something strange - a little girl standing on the sidewalk near an alleyway, gently swaying from side to side, but otherwise unmoving beyond the odd twitch of the arms - arms that had a pallid, pale and greying complexion...

It would not be until the woman got closer that the child began to react, slowly turning towards the woman.

When Kiko got close enough to the child, her blackened lips, dribbling inky ichor pulled back, revealing a vicious snarl, and her reddened eyes narrowed. The child started shuffling unnaturally towards the woman, her breath heavy, yet quick, and her hands reaching, clawing, grasping for the woman.

Ennerdale Street Little-Zombie-Girl

Kiko was seriously getting freaked out by the lack of contact, it made no sense! Then there was that God-awful stench that seemed to only get thicker as she continued. Thats when she spotted her, a little girl, standing on the sidewalk. She looked back to the Police Station's clock tower, still in view, noting the time. The little girl should've been in school, it was a Thursday after all...

When she looked back, the little girl was seemingly moving away from her. Kiko took a few steps forward. "Hey, kiddo, what you doing out on the street? You skipping school?" She raised a brow, chuckling... her laughter died down quickly upon looking at the girl's dress. It was filthy for one, and her skin was pale, like she had seen a ghost... but not only that, there was a huge gash on her shoulder! Kiko gasped. God, that looks serious! Where are her damn parents?! "Oh my God! Are you okay?" She shouted, rushing to her, knowing a thing or two about the medical field, as she was at one point, almost a doctor. As she got closer however... the child turned to face her, causing Kiko to grind her heels to a stop. Black, rubbery lips peeled back into a vicious snarl, eyes bloodshot and distant, as if she was looking through her rather than at her. Kiko takes a step back as the child shuffled towards her in a unusual gait, as if she didn't understand what her legs were, lazily dragging one behind her as she came closer! "He-hey! Wha-th-thats not funny you little brat!" Kiko, for all her tough and seductive appearance had felt a shiver go down her spine and a wavering in her voice. She didn't care to admit it, but the kid was freaking her the fuck out! "Hey, I said stop that!" She exclaimed, having to take another full two steps back to keep her distance, not wanting to be touched by the little fingers which were encrusted with what looked like dried blood!

Ennerdale Street A0395443e22dca49570218ae702f0b8e

She no longer had to wonder where the strange girl's mother was. That same vacant gaze, even more greying mottled skin covered in blood and injuries, and that same, almost dead gait of step. And they were not alone.

The moans that Kiko heard only in the distance before grew louder, and clearer...

Her eyes went wide with horror, the child now joined with a woman who was in worse shape! How can anyone walk with those kind of injuries?! She thought, before noticing the practically milky glaze in the woman's eyes. She looked... dead! She didn't even realize it till she did it, but she had drawn her switchblade with a flick of a switch:

Ennerdale Street File

She raised it towards the woman, her eyes darting from the child to the woman as she backed up. "S-stay back!" She exclaimed, swinging the blade in the air as an added show of force, in case this was some... very bad joke. All the while, she was unsettled by the woman's moaning voice, and the number of similar moans that seemed to be coming closer! The pair didn't seem to care! "Did you hear me? I'll cut you!" She threatened, her voice deeper, but it couldn't mask the fear slowly crawling up her throat...

The monsters were completely heedless of Kiko's warning, as their shuffling continued unabated. Snarling, arms stretching towards her, almost like a primitive mind indicating they wanted her...

The guttral, unnatural sound to their moaning voices sounded like their larynx had several years of grave dust travelling through them when they breathed, and that haggard moaning became a snarl when they got close enough. Both the girl and the woman's gait increased in speed as they both lunged for Kiko!

Kiko was amazed by their total blindness to the weapon in her hand, yet, they fixated on her like a moth to a flame! The closer they got, the faster they seemed to be! The girl was practically upon her, waddling, her moan more energetic as she reached for her waist! "I said stay the fuck back brat!" She screamed, backing up with her right boot up, planting her heel into the lower jaw of the shrimp with a quick forward kick with one leather clad thigh! She could feel the texture of her wet, rubbery face, the heel of her boot digging into her slimy jaw, a crack as several teeth fell away with ease and the creature stumbled back into the woman. Kiko stumbled back, a tight not in her gut. "Sorr-" she began, before slipping on a something that had caught onto her heel! "Ack!" She screamed, falling onto her back with a THUD!

She cringed, looking down at her right boot, lifting her jiggling torso up to inspect what it was she slipped on. Her deep blue eyes became small dots her jaw agape as she looked at the strip of flesh which had been peeled off the girl's face, and had clung to her boot! The jaw... the fucking jaw was sliding off the scuffed leather boot heel with a wet plop. She grimaced, feeling her stomach turn in on itself, her terrified eyes now turning to the monster she had kicked away!

The small girl stumbled and fell back after Kiko kicked her off, her back smacking thickly onto the pavement. However, instead of crying, or screaming in pain at the fall or the fact that she just had her lower jaw snapped off, the girl moaned, and sat up, before turning over to stand up unsteadily., her lower jaw completely removed, only her fleshy tongue was there, waggling in the open air like a demented snake. when she was upright, she immediately turned on Kiko again, unheeding of any pain or injury she just sustained.

the adult zombie had now caught up to the child, and both infected were shambling side by side towards Kiko now, with the older one - while still unsteady - was far more capable of movement.

"Oh, that is not normal!" She screamed, dragging her leather clad ass against the cement of the sidewalk, her boots clacking as she pedals back into a crabwalk, trying to get away from both the freaks, the smell of death thicker now the jaw was gone! How is she moving?! How are either of them moving?! She frantically thought, grabbing hold of a parking meter stand to pull her curvy form up from the street! She doubted a shiv would do much help, if the little monster could handle a lack of a jaw- and she wasn't too keen on letting them get any closer than they were! What do they want with me?! They're like...like... She didn't want to think it, think the word while pressing her body against the meter, lifting herself off the ground. "Fuck this," she spat, turning around and began running. "fuck all of this!" She screamed, running up the street.

Ennerdale Street Empty Cat's Intro

Post by Cathy McDonell Fri Nov 23, 2018 12:33 am

September 24th, 1998

Earlier that day...

The raven haired woman sits at the Raccoon Cafe across the street from the station. The morning was drab and overcast, but oddly warm for Autumn. Having been in the city since late August, Cathy had playfully wondered if she had perhaps under prepared for her stay. Well everything is still set. Just need to get access to my 'competition's information' then I can leave this sorry excuse for a city. She thought somewhat coldly. She heard much of Raccoon, and knew the people who ran it well. She was meddling in some dangerous territory, and as it was, her choice of profession was perhaps a bad idea in hindsight; they already jailed one freelance reporter after all. Just gotta keep my head down, and not get caught. Only a matter of time before we can hit'em where it hurts and slip out. Easy as pie. She thought, taking a sip of Earl Gray. For such a drab, colorless morning, the Asian-American was sporting a rather taut and bright orange and white sundress, white pumps and showing off a lot of leg. She crossed her shapely thighs, adjusting her glasses as she waited for the waiter to arrive with her breakfast. Outside on the patio, she stood out like a rainbow in a world of bleak, black and white. She had questioned the low activity, but only as an afterthought. With the early football game and half of the town in attendance, she wrote it off as 'team spirit'. After all, in spite of its glitz and glamour, Raccoon started as a small town. It was Umbrella which made it a household name. That and those grisly murders...

She continued to drink her tea when her underframed glasses glint as she looks up at a young man approaching her. Someone she knew. He took a seat in front of her, sunglasses on in spite of the lack of sun, but they weren't for blocking out the rays...

"What are you doing here?" She asked without any formality. "It was your plan to never meet-"

"-there's a leak. Its big. I couldn't contact you in the conventional ways. Keep your voice low." He replied in a low whisper, looking around. Cathy looked startled for a moment, down at the cup she was drinking from and promptly stopped. "When...? The incubation period... is it?" She asked cautiously, her heart pounding as she stared at the liquid swirling in her cup.

The man looked at her with a sympathetic smile. "Incubation period is already over. It was in the water, but now its everywhere. But you should be fine, just don't use tap for another twelve hours." He replied.

Cathy looked up with an odd look. "What do you mean by that? Are you expecting me to do all this prepwork, in an-.." she lowered her voice. "...an outbreak? Without my gear?" She asked with a look of concern. The man sighed. "Well equipment is now OSP (on site procurement), but when the others get here, there will be a safe house ready and stocked and a briefing of your mission... we've had to revise it some given the... change of difficulty." He added. "I have to get to the others, warn them as well. Those bastards from Corporate fucked it up. Our teams are already moving in, you need to make sure you get somewhere safe...as it is, the city's infected are already attacking." he says, looking around, before taking the napkin from the table and wrapped an item beneath the table before sliding it over to her. "You'll be needing this. Keep it... well, out of sight for now. Soon that won't matter." he says as she unwrapped the napkin carefully, revealing a VP70 pistol with RPD markings on it. "...he attacked me from one of the alleyways near my bar. I don't need it, so take it. Consider it a gift for the mess I landed ya in." he says with a sigh as she closes the napkin, and looks up at him. "Thanks... just like old times." She says cryptically to which he chuckled before he added: "-anything else you'll have to find on your own out there." He says, before getting up. "I need to get going."

She glanced up at him and nodded. "Very well. I'll need to gather supplies then, and... stay safe, okay?" She remarked, noting his nervousness.

The man paused, looking back with a half grin. "...Just worry about the monsters. I'll handle my own." he replied back just as cryptically before walking away.

Cat sat there for a few moments, looking down at her new gun. She tucked it into her purse, and realized she would be needing to make a few necessary additions to her flashy clothes if she was going to get by in the coming hours. Now the eerie silence made sense. Not wanting to take chances on breakfast, she laid down her money for the meal, as useless as the cash would be in the next few hours, but if only to keep up the ruse and not elicit any unwanted suspicion her way. Her pumps clicked upon the asphalt upon her departure, the change of plans still circling in her head.
